Woman saves ‘Flasher’

by duncanr

A tourist owes his life to a woman watching a webcam hundreds of miles away.

The man was taking photographs of the sunset off the German coast near St Peter-Ording.

He wandered on to the ‘pack ice’ to get some better pictures but then became disorientated – not sure in which direction lay the coast.

Fearful of moving in the wrong direction and heading further out to sea rather than to the safety of land, he used the flash on his camera to try and signal for help.

Luckily for him, a web cam covered that spot of the coast and a woman watching the cam from her PC spotted the flashes and alerted the authorities who used their car headlights to show the stranded man the way back to the shore.
