Change in Seat Belt Design Proposed

A new report due to be presented shortly to the Government by the Dept of Road Transport in collaboration with Health & Safety is thought to be recommending a simple change in seat belt design that would cut road traffic accidents by as much as 45 %

woman-driving-car-adjusting-mirror-applying-make-up250A poll of 4,000 women drivers by motor insurer Diamond reveals some startling and frankly frightening behaviour.

20% of those questioned admitted applying makeup while driving whilst 3% admitted to causing an accident when distracted by applying/touching up their makeup.

Scaling those figures up – this suggests around 450,000 (almost 1/2million) accidents a year are attributable to women more concerned about their appearance than the safety of themselves and other road users
